Procedure
In Person

Once a vehicle is imported clearing agents shall proceed with the clearance and first-time registration procedures online at the Kenyan revenue Authority portal (www.kra.go.ke/).
All agents have unique login identifications (numbers) which will enable them to do this online.
Upon fulfillment of necessary requirements online by the agent, the system generates a unique acknowledgement number to the clearing agent.
The same number is copied and sent to the client either on mobile phone or email account who in this case the owner of the vehicle being registered.
The acknowledgement number is used to track the vehicle registration task until it is approved,
When registration application is approved, an auto generated electronic mail is sent to the email address specified for the agent with a copy to the associated company, organization, individual or owner.
This will enable both the clearing agent and the motor vehicle owners know the status of a cars registration.
After subsequent stages, the process is completed in less than 24 hours subject to all documents being in proper order.Thereafter, a registration book and a number are issued.

Instructions
The owner of the Vehicle has to renew the registration with the Land Transportation Office in Kenya by law.
A Compulsory Third-Party Liability (CTPL) insurance is required before the Government agency will approve of the renewal.This insurance is supposed to compensate the family of any person who will become a casualty of a vehicular accident.
An inspection report which details the specifics of the vehicle and the corresponding emission test done to check the vehicle is in a good condition before it is permitted to be used on the public roads of Kenya.

Need for the Document
A vehicle registration is a mandatory certification that every vehicle must have so that it can be driven on public roads of Kenya whether it's new or used, you must register it at the Domestic Motor Vehicle offices in Kenya.

The Registration of a vehicle is characterized by payment of Import taxes in order to obtaining car number plates.The car will get a registration plate, that serves to make a distinction between different vehicles. Apart from the registration, there is a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), that is unique to every single vehicle and that serves to that same purpose.
