How to Register with Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB) by Kenyans247(1): Sun 15, March, 2020 08:19pm
Procedure
1.)To register with Kenya Literature Bureau KLB,send an e-mail to the following addresses:

2.) Or go to the:

The Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB) Offices as indicated below in the address section on this procedure for registration.

Note: It is very important that the person wishing to be registered provides the correct address to the administration office at KLB offices (street, number, box number).

3.) Once the person wishing to be registered has submitted all required documents, he/she will receive a statement of registration, more specifically for registration of promoting local Authorship, Publishing Quality Educational materials and Knowledge Materials , and Provide Shareholder Value" and he/she will be able to order for a certificate of publishing that is valid for 3 years.

This concern the following cases: a person who is Preferred to be a Publisher of Quality Reading Materials and has sufficient means of meeting the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of the republic of Kenya. These people will receive a statement of registration and after a positive recommendation of Local Authorship.

If the person is unable to submit all documents and/or falls in one of the aforementioned cases, he/she will receive a request for statement of registration. All documents must be submitted within a period of 2 months from the submission.

All individuals & organizations both private and public at primary and tertiary-level institutions,polytechnics, and universities are eligible to register for with Kenya Literature Bureau.

You Must a pear in person for registration with KLB.

KLB does not prepare candidates for its examinations by establishing secondary schools or tutorial centers, and no such institutions are affiliated to the Bureau.

Need for the Document
Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB) was the first publishing house to be established in Eastern Africa. It was established in 1947 under the then East African Common Services Organization. It was later handed over to the East African Community (EAC) where it remained till the collapse of the EAC in 1977. It became a department in Kenya's Ministry of Education and thereafter transformed into a State Corporation on 4th July, 1980 when Parliament enacted the Kenya Literature Bureau Act, Cap 209.

The functions of the Bureau is
(a) to carry on the business of publishing, printing and distributing literary,educational, cultural and scientific books, periodicals, journals,magazines, digital and electronic materials and works of every description;
(b) to acquire copyrights in and rights and licences over literary and other works of every description
