Mutula Kilonzo Jnr's Covid-19 Status Revelation Irks Jubilee MP by Saocv(1): Tue 07, April, 2020 08:51pm
Jubilee Party's nominated Member of Parliament David ole Sankok has slammed Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr over the Covid-19 test results released to the Members of the National Assembly on Tuesday, April 7.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the legislator expressed his displeasure at the manner in which he had gone about announcing their results to the public.

"You never know, one may have contracted the disease again, yet you go around telling people you are free, like Mutula Kilonzo. For what purpose, to tell Kenyans you are free so that they come to you because you cannot affect them?" he remarked.

The senator had earlier on shared his results on his official Twitter page.

"Last week, we were subjected to voluntary Covid-19 tests. The results were communicated directly and posted on email. I tested negative,

Stay safe, wear a mask, wash your hands, sanitize, social distance and follow the Ministry of Health (MoH) guidelines. This is a war of survival," he posted.

Sankok termed the move as reckless and argued that personal medical information should be treated as private and that in the case of Covid-19, a negative result carried out on a sample taken weeks ago could not be termed as 100% accurate

"Medical results are required to be confidential. There is a wide time frame between the moment we were tested up to when results were released. Within that period, an MP may have interacted with more people," he cautioned.

Speaking to a Radio Citizen reporter, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, also shared his results but remained mum when quizzed on if any of the House members had test positive.

"Testing in Parliament was voluntary and confidential, I can only talk about myself and I tested negative," he disclosed.

On March 30, it was announced that at least 50 MPs and Parliament staff were to be tested for Covid-19, after potentially coming into contact with Rabai MP Kamoti Mwamkale who recently tested positive for the virus.

Among the MPs tested and subjected to mandatory quarantine were members of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) and the Delegated Legislation Committee, both of which Mwamkale sits on.

The Rabai MP tested positive after reportedly coming into contact with Kilifi Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi at the funeral of the late Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori on Monday, March 9.
