Nairobi's New Face in Next 100 Days - General Badi by Kenyans247(1): Sat 11, July, 2020 02:12pm
Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Director-General Mohamed Badi on Friday, July 10, laid down his plan for the next 100 days promising a new face in Nairobi.

Speaking during an Interview on Horizon TV, the General stated that more was to come as he had been tasked with other projects to deliver in the coming months.

"In the next 100 days, I have been tasked to set up 24 fully functional hospitals in Nairobi's informal settlements. The centres should be up and running with complete medical equipment for the residents," he stated.

He stated that with the Covid-19 pandemic, his duties included ensuring that there was enough bed capacity in other hospitals in the county including Mama Lucy Hospital where they are in the process of setting up a new wing which would see it elevated to a Level 4 hospital.General Badi addressed the water shortage in the county where he stated the NMS had already dug 96 boreholes to supply water.

"We are looking to having another 100 boreholes each with a pump and stainless steel tank for 24-hour delivery," he stated.

The NMS Director further stated that they were also deploying other measures in making the water supply in the county efficient.

Badi stated that the Northern Water Connector Tunnel would supply water to the capital and the issue of water rationing would reduce significantly in the next two to three months.

A major difference noted in the Central Business District (CBD) is the expansion of non-motorised pathways. Badi disclosed that the plan was to connect the whole of the CBD with walkways and cyclists paths and eventually to all estates."Cyclists lanes are protected with elevated pavements to prevent vehicles from veering onto them and endangering the lives of the cyclists," he added.

He further stated that the body was exploring underground parking to cater for private vehicles as well as sunken car parks for Public Service Vehicles (PSVs).

Badi noted that to make sure that order was restored in the city, they were looking to ensuring all traffic lights are working in the county.
