What you need to know:
Majak, 20, is currently with the South Sudan national team that is preparing to face Uganda Cranes in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Monday in Nairobi.
Cranes won the first leg 1-0 in Kampala on Thursday.
David Majak's move to Sweden from Tusker FC has stalled following a disagreement between the player's agent and the club, Nation Sport has learnt.
Majak, who broke into the limelight in 2018 while featuring for Kapenguria Heroes in the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Tournament in which he won the Golden Boot and emerged as the Most Valuable Player, had landed a trial invite at Swedish giants Elfsborg, which is home to Kenyan international centre back Joseph Okumu.
His agent, Jamal Ibrahim, said they were a number of other teams in Sweden that were keen to offer the player a permanent deal but allegedly pulled out due to high demands from Tusker.
"Division One side IFK Varnamo, AFC Eskilstuna and Elfsborg were all very eager to have the striker on trial and actually sent invites. Vasalund which recently earned a promotion to the second-tier were ready to sign him permanently," Jamal said.
"Tusker however have unrealistic demands and want Sh8 million for a player who barely played five games last season. This pushed away all the clubs," he added.
However, a reliable source with Tusker FC has disputed the agent's claim.
"We actually wrote a letter that was used in the application of visa. We will never block a player from moving abroad if he secures a deal. However, Majak is still under contract at the club until 2022 and we, therefore, have to get compensation if he is to move," the source told Nation Sport.
"The agent initially approached us with a trial offer from Elfsborg and we agreed to let the player attend. Later he came back to us with a letter from Vasalund which said the club was ready to sign the player but for free but with a sale on percentage if the player moves to another club in the future. This offer was not appealing to the club and we rejected it."
"The agent then said the highest amount we would get from the sale of the player to any club in Sweden is Sh1.5 million and we thought this was the beginning of negotiations and we, therefore, presented our counter offer only for him to back down completely. We are ready to release the player if we get the right offer," he added.
