Ministry of Health reports the death of 18 Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours.
Latest fatalities raises the national death toll to 1,287.
The Ministry of Health has reported 559 new cases of Covid-19 in Kenya from 3,074 samples tested in the last 24 hours, raising the total confirmed cases in the country to 70,804.
Health Cabinet Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe, while giving his daily briefs at Afya House, Nairobi on Monday, also reported the death of 18 patients in the last 24 hours, bring the national death toll to 1,287.
The CS also announced that 478 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.
From these number, 337 recoveries were reported from home-based care while 141 patients have been discharged from various hospitals.
The latest cases comprises 541 Kenyans and 18 foreigners, out of which 336 are males and 223 females. The youngest is a one-year old baby while the oldest is 82 years old.
CS Kagwe further revealed that Nairobi reported 278 new cases, followed by Meru 82, Kilifi 41, Mombasa 41 and Kiambu 27.
Cases by counties
Other cases were reported in Machakos 16, Uasin Gishu 15, Kajiado 9, Isiolo 8, Nyeri 6, Busia 4, Kakamega 4, Tharaka Nithi 4, Garissa 3, Murang’a 3, Mandera 3, Kwale 2, Marsabit 2 and Nakuru 2.
Kirinyaga, Vihiga, Homa Bay, Taita Taveta, West Pokot, Tana River, Kitui, Kisumu and Elgeyo Marakwet reported one new case each.
The CS also said that a total of 1,228 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,960 are on home-based isolation and care.
Kagwe said that 64 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 27 of whom are on ventilatory support and 33 on supplemental oxygen.
Further, 97 patient are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of whom, 74 are in the general ward, while 23 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
