Uhuru & Raila Tour Kisumu in Military Chopper [VIDEO] by Kenyans247(1): Mon 11, January, 2021 07:47am |
President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga rode on a Kenya Airforce chopper on Sunday, January 10, on an inspection tour of Kisumu.
The two handshake principals made a stop at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu which is currently under construction. The former Prime Minister lauded the progress of construction in the stadium noting that development projects are changing the face of Kisumu. "I am impressed by the progress of development projects in Kisumu that we saw while on an inspection tour of the county with President Uhuru Kenyatta. "The lakeside city is undergoing a welcome gradual transformation," said Raila. Uhuru and Raila were also joined by Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Kisumu Governor Nyong'o aboard the military chopper for the tour of projects in Kisumu. Uhuru spent the night in Kisumu after attending the burial of the mother to ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi on Saturday, in Vihiga County. The leaders arrived in three separate Kenya Airforce choppers that landed inside the stadium after rains pounded the area. The stadium has started taking shape, with one side of the structure of the stand erected as construction continues to to be fast-tracked. Upon completion, the stadium will have a capacity of 20,000 and will house facilities for football, rugby, tennis, hockey among other disciplines. Chief architect and consultant in the project of the stadium revealed that it will cost Ksh1.4 Billion and will take two years to complete with Ksh350 Million catering for phase one of the project. The ground had previously been hosting rugby matches including Kenya Cup (Kisumu RFC), National Sevens Circuit (Dala 7s) and Kenya rugby 15s international games.
