Gor Mahia's new coach, Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto, says his main target is to help the club qualify for the Caf Confederation Cup group stages in February.

Oliveira had been barred by from overseeing continental matches due to lack of Caf A license or Uefa Pro its equivalent. He returned to his mother land to upgrade his papers.

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier on Sunday clarified that they have mutually parted ways with Oliveira as he would have taken a minimum of 270 hours (three months) to get his papers.

"I want to achieve big things and make history with the club. We have to work very hard to win games and put Gor Mahia in the group stage of the Confederation Cup, that is my target here,” said Vaz Pinto.

"I have a lot of experience in Africa. I worked before in two countries, Angola and Ethiopia, I played Confederation Cup and Champions League and now I come to Gor Mahia because they are a big club," he added.

He has been in charge of St George of Ethiopia and Angolan club Clube Recreativo Desportivo do Libolo. He also had a short stint at FC Famalicao'sUnder 23 team in Portugal from September 2019 to June 2020.
