Reprieve for LSK staff as leadership tussle continues by Kenyans247(1): Thu 18, February, 2021 12:17pm |
A workers go-slow at the Law Society of Kenya over delayed salaries has been sorted after the High Court directed the Standard Chartered Bank to process the staff payment.
Appearing in court Tuesday, LSK vice president Carolyne Kamende Daudi was directed to go to Standard Chartered Bank and sign the cheques releasing two-month salaries to the staff, who had complained of lack of pay since November last year. ![]() The bank’s lawyers asked for a copy of staff payroll, a cheque signed by Ms Daudi and chief executive officer Mercy Wambua and a letter signed by the two, authorising the bank to pay the salaries. The High Court last month authorsed Ms Kamende and Ms Wambua, as signatories to the bank accounts, to withdraw Sh14 million for salaries and Sh3.5 million for elections. But the move was derailed after council members, who were suspended in a special general meeting last month, got a temporary order and later staged a coup by suspending LSK president Nelson Havi. The stand-off between the opposing groups was threatening to affect the jobs of lawyers across the country who are required to renew their practicing certificate in the first quarter of the year. https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/bd/economy/reprieve-for-lsk-leadership-tussle-continues-3293854 0 Shares 0 Like • |
