This article will give you tips on how to maintain your battery to keep it strong and healthy.

DON’T CHARGE YOUR BATTERY ALWAYS (OVER CHARGING)

This is a mistake common among laptop users in most part of Africa where there is little or limited power supply. Over charging of battery reduces the strength of laptop battery very fast. The best and recommended method to charge your battery is between 25% – 98% (use the battery till it drains to 25%, then plug the charger and remove it at 98%, it is not necessary to charge it to 100% full level).

PLUG IT BEFORE THE BATTERY GOES OFF

Never allow your laptop battery drain till the system shut down by itself. This is the no 1 killer of battery in every laptop. Make sure your shut down your laptop or plug in the charger once it’s close to the critical battery condition level.

DON’T CHARGE YOUR PHONE WITH YOUR LAPTOP

The strength of your laptop and phone battery are not the same, using your laptop to charge a phone damages both your phone and laptop battery.

ACTIVATE BATTERY SAVER

Battery saver mode helps reduce the usage of your battery by your laptop by reducing the performance of the computer where needed. Although it can affects the presentations in your laptop’s graphic when you’re environment like game, video, graphic editor like Adobe etc.

TURN YOUR Wi-Fi OFF WHEN YOU’RE NOT USING THE INTERNET

Internet connection especially Wi-Fi network drain the battery faster. Turn off your Wi-Fi if you’re not making use of the internet. Also it is advice you turn of your Bluetooth when you aren’t making use of it because drain the battery as well.

UNPLUG UNUSED PERIPHERALS (DEVICES)

All peripherals (detachable device used with a computer) drains the power to the peripheral itself example microphone, external hard drive, external speaker, external webcam etc. remove all peripheral device when there are not in use to save the strength of your laptop battery.
