This is a list of 10 best places to visit in Migori County. Migori is one of the counties in the former Nyanza Province of Kenya. It covers an area of 2,586.4 square kilometers, with an estimated population of 917,170 people. The county is headed by Governor Okoth Obado.

In no particular order, here is a list of 10 best places to visit in Migori County.

1. Thimlich Ohinga

It is a pre-historic site that features rock dwellings, forts, and living places, that depict the early lifestyle of the people who settled at the site during the early Luo migration and settlement in South Nyanza. It is approximately a one hour drive from Migori Town to the pre-historic site.



2. Got Kweru

It is a pilgrimage site for the Legio Maria sect. The legendary founder and leader (Ondeto) of the sect was buried here. The Legio Maria adherents frequently hold prayers and worship at this location.



3. Macalder Gold Mines

The macalder gold mines are located in Nyatike. You can visit the place to have a glimpse of how small scale artisan gold mining happens.



4. Sori Karungu

It is a picturesque fishing village in Migori County, on the shores of Lake Victoria near the frontier with Tanzania. It is a nice place to visit for photography sessions, fishing expeditions, and sightseeing adventures.



5. Mugabo Caves

It is actually a natural rock formation that resembles a house-like composition. The attraction is located in Nyatike. It offers amazing opportunities for sightseeing adventures and hiking.

6. Gogo Falls

It is a dam spillway on River Kuja, located in Rapogi about 30 kilometers from Migori Town. It doubles as an archaeological site where some of the earliest appearances of artifacts such as pottery and iron artifacts were discovered.



7. Calabash Hotel

It is situated in a serene environment along Suna-Migori Road. It features an on-site restaurant that serves local and continental dishes, a well-stocked bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, free wifi, free parking and an airport shuttle upon request.
