Airtel Money Uganda International Money Transfers by Kenyans247(1): Wed Dec 2019 03:11pm
Receiving money from overseas is now easier with the new Airtel Money International Transfer. You can receive money from Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, UK, USA, UAE, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia directly to your Airtel Money wallet AT NO COST and withdraw from over 700 Airtel Money branches countrywide at the most affordable rates or pay bills, buy data and airtime among others.

You can also send money from your Airtel Money wallet directly to recipients in Tanzania and Malawi and soon to launch in Rwanda, Kenya, U.A.E at competitive rates across the market ranging between UGX 900 to UGX 58,000.

How it works
The sender according to Airtel uses “any intermediary company like World remit, wave, Pegasus etc to send money when abroad to an Airtel user in Uganda.”

When money is sent, the recipient receives the money as a credit on their Airtel Money account/ wallet and they are notified using an SMS. Upon money landing on their mobile wallet, the recipient will get charged the normal withdraw fees when they want to withdraw the money from their Airtel Money account.

If you are in Uganda sending money to Rwanda, Malawi or Tanzania, dial *185# >> 1. Send Money >> 4. International Transfer >> Select country >> Enter recipient number >> Amount >> send.

Airtel’s International Money Transfers comes right after MTN announced a similar money remittance service dubbed Homeland. The Telco currently has over 10M customers with over 650 branches and thousands of agents in Uganda.
