- The insects have invaded the northern parts after moving from Somalia and Ethiopia - They are known for moving in swarms and consuming any vegetation cover they come across - Locals fear their animals may starve to death following the insects invasion Residents of Wajir and Mandera counties are now living in fear after a swarm of desert locusts invaded the northern region. The locusts are well known for their destructive power which stems from their gregarious nature that allows them to move in swarms, eating whatever vegetation they find on their path.
