DP William Ruto badly ridiculed after flamboyant launch of market street lighting in Migori by Kenyans247(m): Tue Jul 2019 02:54pm
- Ruto launched market street lighting at Senta Market in Kuria East, Migori County over the weekend. - But Kenyans accused him of stooping too low and taking up the work of MCAs, chiefs and village elders. - Many questioned the logic of spending heavily to fly from Nairobi and launch such a lowly project. - Others took the DP to task over pending Jubilee government mega projects promised in 2013. Deputy President William Ruto has increasingly become synonymous with endless countrywide tours dominated by 2022 succession politics. He has personally described the state-sponsored trips as development tours and justified this by almost unfailingly launching projects - big or small, low-cost or expensive - wherever he visits. Others took him to task, seeking to know if the Jubilee Government will be able to deliver on its unfulfilled ambitious promises made in 2013 when the DP was busy commissioning lamp posts. “Give it up for @WilliamsRuto for being the first Deputy President to launch a street light,” Victor Amadala responded. Some termed the event as downright embarrassing; others advised the DP to kick out his media team and political advisors, while former presidential aspirant Mwalimu Dida, settled on absolute sarcasm. “I launched my breakfast about 3 hours ago in a colourful event attended by my family. I am expected to launch lunch later in the day, evening tea and dinner at night! I will then launch a sleeping program to sum up my day,” Dida replied in mockery of Ruto’s publicized undertaking. Below is a sample of what other Kenyans had to say about DP Ruto’s commissioning of a market streetlamp.
