|What should a person know before visiting Kenya? by Kenyans247(m): Thu Jan 2020 08:03am|
Based on my very limited experience in Kenya:
If possible, avoid driving yourself in Nairobi if its your first time to the city. Most drivers are courteous but the traffic can be chaotic and unorderly at times. I have been in a number of cities but the Nairobi traffic is by far the scariest I have ever seen.
Expect to be searched to an inch of your life whenever you visit a public place like hotels, universities, airports (I was forced to delete pictures I took at a university campus). These are only people doing their jobs so please don’t take offence.
The local cuisine is very nice. Give it a try.
They have a game park within the city which is reasonably priced. If you have the time give it a try.
I found the people to be very nice in general, from taxi drivers to ordinary citizens in the street. Expect to be pleasantly surprised.
If you are coming from a non-Commonwealth country, carry an electric adapter.
