|Why is it so much cheaper to see mountain gorillas in Uganda than in Rwanda? by Kenyans247(m): Thu Jan 2020 09:00am|
In Rwanda, you would have to pay $1,500 while you would pay $ 700 in Uganda.
There are many reasons, but the best explanation comes down to policy and strategy. Most importantly, the balance of demand and supply.
The Rwandan government has been putting so much effort in conservation. The idea is to allow visitors to see the gorillas, but at the same time, leave them alone as much as possible. This means that while the tourists increase, RDB wants to give space for the gorillas so that they can grow in the wild.
On each day, only 80 tourists are allowed to trek the gorillas. Regardless of the demand, this is not negotiable. However, each year, more tourists keep coming. Thus, the government has to make a balance between profit and conservation.
Rwanda offers better trekking experience, easy accessibility the gorillas, better customer care service, hustle free trekking experience, and overall better marketing and advertising strategy. As of 2019, these are the results.
